SITCUK
Swap in the City (SITCUK) brings the women of London a chic and stylish swishing event for Fashion Revolution Day on Thursday 24th April at Crown Moran Hotel. Here women can bring along their loved, but no longer wanted, good quality or luxury designer clothes and swap it for another item that catches their eye. The best bit…by taking part in the event you will be helping the environment!

Organised by Swap In The City UK (SITCUK), which has been organising swap extravaganzas for two years now, providing women with a platform to exchange their clothes and give someone else the opportunity to fall in love with an item all over again, SITCUK are helping women decrease the waste and carbon footprint of their perfectly wearable pre-loved, garments. The proceeds of the auction go to Caudwell Children, a charity that provides family support services, equipment, treatment and therapies for disabled children, across the UK.

Did you know that every year in the UK around two million tonnes of clothes are purchased, yet we throw away a staggering one million tonnes of clothes, which is the equivalent of around £25m a year! However, swishing is sustainable clothing at its best. SITCUK is a fashion forward thinking company, with an aim of reducing the negative impact wasted clothes has on the environment.

The Fashion Revolution Day Swishing Party promises to be more than just clothes swapping: it will be an experience. As the Fashion Revolution Day name suggests, it is on Fashion Revolution Day, which is held on the anniversary of the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory complex, in Bangladesh, in which over eleven hundred people were killed and many more injured. It is a global movement to create a fashion industry that values the environment and those that work in its value chain as much as creativity and profit, by encouraging people to consider the farmers and machinists that grow and sew the threads of the garments that are sold in our high streets.

April’s event takes place at the luxurious Crown Moran Hotel, April 24th from 17:30 to 21:30 (BST), will boast a celebrity expert in fitness and ex international footballer Junior Agogo, as well as hair seminar by Steve Braithwaite of Toni & Guy, Illusionist Reuel Singh, and wardrobe stylists, who will give talks and complementary consultations whilst socialising and networking with like-minded women.

SITCUK’s motto is ‘Enabling women to do good, look good, feel good, be good’. Its founder, Nicole Pinkney, explained her reasons for starting SITCUK: ‘I thought it was a shame to have so many great items of fashion that were just going to waste in my wardrobe. I didn’t want to just throw them out. SITCUK was a way of recycling these items, while having fun and networking with like-minded women…’

Promoted as a luxury experiential swap event, SITCUK only displays good quality or high-end designer items an any items that are not exchanged in the swish are sold in a charity auction, which takes place near the end of the evening.
VIP-ticket holders get exclusive entry to the complimentary VIP lounge, one hour before doors open, and an exclusive seminar. For those ready for some serious hoarder control, buy your tickets now!
