We got to go and see the fabulous John Rocha at Somerset House, we were buzzing when we finally sat down and waited for the show to begin.  John Rocha’s Autumn Winter 14 collection is an exploration between gothic and romanticism, it is at once dark and then light. It is sophisticated yet youthful, nonchalant and passionate.

The silhouetted is designed in lush velvets, winter lit tweed, patent glazed felts and leather. Hand mad raffia lace and John’s signature silk georgettes, chiffons and organza’s. Throughout the collection surfaces are worked in wonderful techniques: hand  crochets, appliquéd velvet winter florals and scattered cutwork leaves; beyond craft they are as integral to the work as cut to form.

The collection theme is grounded in all the textures and shades of black, under lit in dusk shades with midnight greens, shadowy garnet and forest smoke. All comprehended by his undying love of texture and structure, AW14 is filled with John’s particular vision of subtle strength and intricate beauty.
